Contacts as safe senders.

Our system allows administrators to define a list of safe senders for the entire domain. We added the option to enable each user's contact list as safe senders as well.
If the domain administrator enables the option, each email address present in the users contact lists is automatically considered a safe sender for the domain.
Note that a contact address just needs to be present in the contact list of one user to be considered safe for every other users of the domain.

Mark As...

You can now mark your incoming messages as:

- Read
- Unread
- Importance High
- Importance Low
- Importance None

Changing a read message back to the unread state can help you to make that message more visible so you won't forget to get back to it later.
The importance mark can also be changed, so you can make a message more or less important to you regardless what importance was set by the sender.
In order to mark a message, select the checkbox of the message you are interested to and select a menu item from the "Mark As..." dropdown menu available in your mailbox command bar.

Cc and Bcc fields

Based on our customers feedback we made a change in the way the Cc and Bcc fields are shown.
Now there are two new settings in the Profile -> E-Mail Compose page that let you set the visible property of Cc and Bcc.
By default the Cc field is visible and the Bcc field is hidden.
While composing a message you can make the Cc and Bcc fields visible or hidden through the "More Options..." popup menu.

Introducing the new web client

The new web client has been introduced on April 2006, it has several improvements in order to make easier and faster to read and compose messages.

There are several new settings you can choose from. The User Interface is highly configurable to best fit your needs. You are allowed to change the way the web client looks like and the way you want to read the messages.

The navigation experience is also brand new and much faster. The data is updated in a smoother way and you won't see anymore the page been refreshed entirely. One side effect of the new technology used is that the back button of the browser is not needed anymore. The new web client is more like an application running on your computer rather then a web application.

Here is a summary of the new functionalities grouped by area, is not intended to be an exaustive list of the overall web client features.

User Interface:

  • you can change the font type and font size used by the application. For example a larger font size and a diffent font type.

  • you can individually choose if icons are shown in menus, command bars and list views. See here a text only UI.

Message Reading:
  • you can choose to use a reading pane at the bottom of the messages list or read the message hiding the message list.

  • you can choose to show a short message header as in the two previous examples or a full message header. You can switch from the short header to the long header while reading the message.

Message Composing:
  • filling the "To", "Cc" and "Bcc" fields is easier thanks to the contacts assistant.

  • you can choose the default font type, font color and font size for new message editing and a different set of value for replying or forwarding messages.

  • the signature can be added or removed while composing the message.

  • you can switch between plain text and rich text editing on the fly.

  • you can ask for a read receipt.

  • you can maximize the editor size.

Miscellaneous:
  • auto Notifier when a new message arrives: click on the yellow label to view the new message.

  • auto Responder when you are out of office.

  • default behavior for handling read receipt requests.

  • support for PDAs and legacy browsers.

  • a better UI and more options are also available to manage your Contacts.

  • the Profile section has been redesigned as well.
